CARE Checking: Bundle of Joy

In the modern world, there’s a lot going on. Home maintenance, kids’ schedules, a social calendar; adulting is a full-time job—on top of your actual full-time job. And that’s when things are going well. Concerns about things you can’t control like car trouble, a changing economy and the increasing risk of identity theft or other cybercrime just adds to the pressure.

These are just some of the many reasons why many folks are turning to services that simplify their busy lives instead of complicating them. We are fortunate to live in a time with seemingly endless entertainment options but as the can’t-miss shows spread out across Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime and an army of other streaming services, it’s no wonder that 72% of subscribers feel that there are too many subscriptions on the market with one third admitting they don’t even know how much they spend on these services.

The solution has been bundling, services that combine a consumer’s subscription habits into a single, generally lower, subscription that makes it easier to keep the users’ entertainment costs under control. The idea works for TV and movies, but what if it could work in other aspects of our hectic, complicated lives?

That’s what we thought with CARE Checking, Allied Healthcare Federal Credit Union’s three tiers of checking accounts designed for any budget. We want to provide accounts that not only serve our members’ finances but support their lifestyles. That’s why, on top of competitive tools that you would expect from a checking account like digital banking, bill pay, debit cards and eStatements, we’ve used our checking accounts as a way to bundle services that benefit your life.

Our Advanced Care and Complete Care tiers, at $9.99 and $6.99 a month respectively, come with 24/7 roadside assistance (roughly $8 a month as a standalone service), a health saving card that brings down the cost of prescriptions, exams and medical material ($2 or so a month on its own), cell phone protection (generally $10 a month as an individual plan), accidental death coverage (about $8 a month on the open market) , and identity theft protection which costs somewhere around $12 a month on its own. That’s $40 of services for $9.99 or $6.99 a month! Throw in the fact that Advanced Care comes with Billshark, a service that goes through the tangled web of your other monthly payments and negotiations lower rates on your behalf, and it’s clear to see that CARE Checking is an account that goes far beyond the expected.

We offer these benefits because it’s clear that members want them. Bundles are a great way to add value without undue complications. We also offer them because we want to be partners in our members’ whole lives, not just for the moments they engage with us at a branch or online. Supporting your financial healthcare for life means just that, being there for you when your car breaks down, or when cyber criminals do their worst to get your information or when you’re shopping your favorite stores (did we mention that Advanced Care and Complete Care accounts come with retail discounts?). That’s what membership means at Allied Healthcare Federal Credit Union. It means belonging, it means being supported, it means being CARED for.
